A worn-out Vaillant replaced in the town centre
In July 2026 we replaced an old non-condensing Vaillant boiler at a home in Macclesfield town centre. Replacement parts for it were no longer made, so it could no longer be serviced or repaired at a sensible cost.
We fitted an Ideal Logic Max Combi² 30kW in its place. Before commissioning, we chemically flushed the heating system and added a magnetic filter to catch sludge and debris. The drain was too far from the boiler for the condensate to run away by gravity, so we fitted a condensate pump. We also added a flue extension to the manufacturer's requirements and upgraded a section of gas pipe to current standards.
The customer now has a modern condensing boiler with a 10-year manufacturer's warranty and a Hive smart thermostat. See the full Macclesfield town centre boiler upgrade.
Annual servicing
Why a yearly service still matters on a newer boiler
Two recent Macclesfield services show what regular servicing does. On 31 August 2026 we carried out the first annual service on a three-year-old ATAG iC28. It needed very little cleaning, but we still checked combustion, the flue, gas pressure and performance, and looked for leaks and wear. ATAG offers warranties of up to 14 years on eligible boilers, and servicing to its requirements is part of keeping that cover.
In July we serviced a six-year-old Ideal Logic Max that has been serviced every year since it was fitted. We removed the casing, cleaned the burner and heat exchanger, checked the fan, condensate trap and flue, and ran the gas safety checks. We found no faults at all, which is what good yearly servicing should look like.

Repairs and new boilers
Repair it or replace it?
When your boiler breaks down, we start by finding the fault and explaining it in plain English. Where a boiler is old, keeps going wrong or its parts are no longer made, we'll tell you honestly whether a repair still makes sense, as with the town centre Vaillant above.
If a new boiler is the better answer, we survey your home first. That's where we spot the details that matter, such as how far the boiler is from a drain, whether the flue needs extending and whether the gas pipe is big enough. Every installation is carried out to current regulations and the manufacturer's instructions.
